Weekly update 14/10/2007

Dear All,

I trust you are having a good start to the week! On Sunday we met at the Garioch Sports Centre and once again the Lord really blessed us. Although we knew many folk were going to be away, we were delighted to see 5 more folk come along who we’d not seen before.

After a time of worship we continued our journey through Acts, looking at the third chapter. It’s about the crippled man who was healed, then the ‘preach’ Peter gave the crowd after that amazing event. Peter and John looked approachable to that crippled man, who sat day after day at the gate Beautiful. We were challenged with the question ‘do we look approachable, someone who is able to meet the needs of folk around us in our communities? When we go shopping, do we actually LOOK people in the eye or just keep our heads down and stay in our own little bubble’? Peter’s sermon came after the people had seen the miracle. When people see God at work then perhaps they will listen to what it is all about.

We finished with about 15/20 mins open discussion followed by a CD solo of ‘Take my life and let it be …’ I look forward to seeing you at Lethenty for our midweek Wednesday gathering. Among other things, we will be taking a deeper look into Acts 3!Also, next Sunday, starting at 1pm at  High Meadow, Parkhill, Kemnay. Check out the diary on the activities page of our website. Click on the event next Sunday (1pm); select ‘more details’, and then on the ‘map’.

Please keep praying for the leaders as they continue to seek the Lord in regard to many things including the multiplication of the @home groups.

See you soon.

Weekly Update 01/10/07

What an amazing time Sunday was! It was great to see so many in the ‘upper room(!)’ of the sports centre, and wonderful to meet many new people. God is on the move in the Garioch and we are privileged to be part of it.

We focused on Acts 2 and how, once filled with the Holy Spirit, we can be different and make a difference. We touched on Peter’s denial and what a changed person he was when the Holy Spirit came on him. It’s radical, life changing stuff!! We used the image of the candles and flames, (have you lit your candle yet?!) and how, as individuals, we can make a difference but also as a body together we can be like a huge fire burning throughout the area.

Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday evening @lethenty at 7.30pm. Larry and Sue Corral will be here, starting the first of our five, one hour sessions, on ‘The Mission Hearted Church.’ These sessions will continue on Saturday morning at 10am at 16 Howford, Inverurie (finishing with a cup of tea at 2.30pm) and conclude with the final one on Sunday after we have shared lunch together, again at Howford. Come ready for a 1 o’clock lunch. It’s fine to be a bit early.

Please pray for Jinty as she was not so well on Sunday. Also pray for baby Lillian as she goes into hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) morning for a minor operation.  Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

Love Jane J
